[🚘️ USC develops a cost-effective rideshare app] Spring Break is just around the corner for USC students, but with that comes the headache of expensive rides to LAX. But, innovative USC students have come up with a solution to help cut the cost. Introducing Shairport, a new app that connects students traveling to the same airport and allows them to share rides Users can enter all the necessary information for their trip, including the date they're leaving, the airport and terminal they're going to, and their flight time. The app then displays all other students leaving the same day, making it easy for users to request a ride with one of them.Once a request is made, the two students' tickets are paired, and both receive a text and email with each other's information. It’s like Tinder on wheels. Shairport can be found on Instagram, and the group have also deployed a GitHub repository

The 2023 Los Angeles Marathon is happening this Sunday, starting bright and early at 7:00am. But the excitement begins earlier, with a wheelchair race at 6:30am, and then shortly thereafter, a hand crank race at 6:35am. At 6:40am, the pro women and elite age group women will take off, followed by the pro men and full field at 7am.

Starting Saturday: the LA Big 5K at 8 a.m. and the LA Kids Runs at 9:30 a.m., both starting at Dodger Stadium. The course will take runners through some of our city’s most famous landmarks and neighborhoods, starting at Dodger Stadium and ending on Santa Monica Boulevard in Century City. The weather forecast is looking dry and cool, with temperatures in the 60s.

A BOLO reminder for drivers: Drivers in the area should be aware of road closures, which can be found here

Be fast and get paid: The total purse for the race is $20,000, with $6,000 going to the first place finisher. And if you're wondering how long it takes to complete the marathon, last year's winner finished in just over 2 hours and 9 minutes. But for most participants, the finish line will be reached well into late morning and early afternoon.

A full lineup of festivities, and pictures of runners that will make you sweat as you scroll, can be found here…
